Black Friday Gas Fill-Up Leads to $500,000 Lottery Jackpot

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD – A Prince George’s County man’s Black Friday purchase turned into a life-changing event as he won a $500,000 top prize on the Bonus Bingo X20 scratch-off. The anonymous winner, a single father of three, experienced an emotional whirlwind upon realizing the magnitude of his win.

The winning moment came after he stopped at New Carrollton Shell in Hyattsville for gas during his Black Friday shopping. A fan of Maryland Lottery’s bingo-style scratch-offs, he purchased a $20 Bonus Bingo X20 ticket to play at home. Familiar with these games, he instantly knew he had won upon scratching off the bingo cards.

To confirm the win, he enlisted the help of his nephew and nephew’s wife to scan the ticket at a lottery retailer. Overcome with emotion, the construction worker plans to use his winnings to pay off debts and invest a portion of the money.

The Bonus Bingo X20 game, available since August 2020, still offers over 30 major prizes, including one more $500,000 top prize and numerous others ranging from $20 to $1,000.

New Carrollton Shell, the retailer where the winning ticket was purchased, located at 8309 Annapolis Road in Hyattsville, also receives a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize winning ticket.
