Woman Seriously Injured in Avoca Shooting

AVOCA, NY – A shooting on the night of Wednesday, in Avoca, Steuben County, has left a woman seriously injured.

The New York State Police responded to a home on Wagner Hill Road around 8:40 p.m., where they found a 47-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her face.

Investigations revealed that Terry Long, a 50-year-old resident, shot the woman inside the home.

The victim was initially taken to Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville and then transferred to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where she remains in guarded condition.

Long faces charges of assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He has been detained in the Steuben County Jail following the incident.
