ORANGE COUNTY, NY — District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that Christian Brown, a 24-year-old resident of Newburgh, has pled guilty to two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.

The guilty plea, entered on Friday in Orange County Court, relates to two incidents where Brown was found with a handgun in the City of Newburgh. As part of a plea agreement, the District Attorney’s Office will recommend an 18-year prison sentence and five years of post-release supervision at his sentencing on July 12.

Brown admitted to discharging a loaded handgun at another individual on Broadway on July 6, 2023, though no injuries were reported. In a separate incident on October 21, 2023, he was arrested outside the Lake Street Apartments with a different loaded 9 mm pistol. The police linked the two guns to Brown through shell-casing tests. The recommended sentences for the two incidents are consecutive, totaling the 18-year recommendation.
