WASHINGTON, D.C. – Police in D.C. have apprehended a man linked to a racially charged stabbing incident. The arrest occurred following a confrontation inside a food establishment located at the 1200 block of New York Avenue, Northwest, on Tuesday at approximately 6:15 PM.

The incident involved the suspect, who threatened and made racially derogatory comments toward the victims while brandishing a knife. An intervention attempt by one of the victims resulted in them being stabbed. Police responded promptly and took the suspect into custody at the scene.

The arrested individual, identified as 63-year-old Reginald Pickett from Northeast, DC, faces charges of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife). The case is currently being investigated as potentially motivated by hate or bias, although this designation may be reassessed as new information emerges. The Special Liaison Branch supports the ongoing investigation.
