Utica Police and Utica Fire departments responded to a possible arson complaint at 2 Kennedy Pl on a Monday morning. The responding officers discovered that during an altercation, a female involved in the dispute attempted to burn the apartment by setting multiple pieces of paper on fire and sliding them under the door.
Fortunately, the intended victim extinguished the flames before significant damage occurred.
Given the severity of the situation, the case was transferred to the Criminal Investigations Division. Later that same day, a 22-year-old individual named Kaylen Schloop from Rome was taken into custody.
Schloop was charged with the offense of arson in the third degree.
