A Young Girl Has Been Arrested by Police After Making School Threat on TikTok

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — A 13-year-old girl has been arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat after posting a school shooting threat in the comments section on TikTok, the Schenectady Police Department announced Tuesday.

The FBI alerted Schenectady detectives to the online threat on the morning of March 12. While the post did not name specific individuals or schools, investigators traced the IP address to a residence within the city. Officers responded to the location and made contact with the juvenile, who admitted to making the threat. No weapons were found at the residence.

The suspect was taken to the department’s Youth Aid Bureau and charged with making a terroristic threat, a Class D felony. Due to the individual’s age, police have not released any additional identifying information.

Authorities have been in communication with the Schenectady City School District, and no further threats have been identified.
