HOUSTON, TX — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported a 59-year-old Mexican national accused of a 2004 murder, ending a two-decade-long manhunt.
Jesus Vazquez Daniel was removed from the U.S. on May 22 and turned over to Mexican authorities at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge Port of Entry in Laredo. He is accused of murdering a man in Hidalgo, Mexico, on October 1, 2004.
Vazquez had been living illegally in the U.S. after entering the country without inspection or legal admission. In July 2024, ICE’s Dallas field office received information about his potential presence in the Hillsboro area. A follow-up investigation by officers from ERO Houston’s Waco office confirmed his identity and the active warrant in Mexico.
With assistance from the Hill County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, ICE officers arrested Vazquez on February 2 in Hillsboro. He was transferred to the Montgomery Processing Center the following day and placed into immigration proceedings.
On May 13, a federal immigration judge ordered his removal. ICE Houston officials executed the deportation nine days later.
