After feds balk, texas shuts down del rio border surge amid humanitarian crisis

Del Rio, TX – On Saturday, neither President Joe Biden nor Vice President Kamala Harris were anywhere to be found. After requests to the Biden Administration for assistance to shut down the flow of tens of thousands of illegal immigrants crossing the border unchecked, the state of Texas has taken matters into its own hands.

“The Texas Department of Public Safety is in full force along the border around the Del Rio area. They have built a barricade with their squad cars and State Troopers. The National Guard is working with them to secure the border,” Texas Governor Greg Abbott said.

At first, the Biden administration signaled that it would help. Then it reversed course, leaving Abbott and Texans to fend for themselves. On Thursday, Governor Abbott’s cries for help went unanswered.

Governor Greg Abbott issued a statement after the Biden Administration reversed their decision to close ports of entry after a massive influx of migrants arrived at the Texas border:

“Six hours after U.S. Customs and Border Protection requested help from Texas to close ports of entry and secure the border, the Biden Administration has now flip-flopped to a different strategy that abandons border security and instead makes it easier for people to cross illegally and for cartels to exploit the border,” Abbott said. “The Biden Administration is in complete disarray and is handling the border crisis as badly as the evacuation from Afghanistan. I have directed the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas National Guard to maintain their presence at and around ports of entry to deter crossings.”

Biden was tracked down to his home in Delaware. Harris was a VIP at the Howard University football game where she handled the kick-off coin toss. Neither were available to discuss the growing humanitarian crisis in Del Rio with Abbott or local officials.

So Abbott mobilized his resources and shut the flow of immigrants down himself.

“Our #bordercrisis goes beyond the RGV and South TX communities — the smuggling of drugs, people, and weapons reaches far and wide, and it affects all of us. I will continue to work tirelessly to secure our border and protect the people of Texas,” he said.
