Aggravated Sexual Battery of a Minor Suspect Apprehended by US Marshals in Memphis

Memphis, TN – Benjamin Brannum,
46, who was wanted by the Bells Police Department from Crockett County,
was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force
(TRVFTF) out of Memphis. U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller announced today.
Brannum was wanted in connection to an incident that occurred in 2014.
On March 25, 2022, Bells Police Department
learned about allegations that Brannum inappropriately touched a minor
victim back in 2014. The incident happened in the City of Bells,
Tennessee. On April 26, 2022, an arrest warrant for Aggravated Sexual
Battery was signed in Crockett County. The TRVFTF adopted the case on
the same day.
This morning, the TRVFTF and officers with the
Bells Police Department went to an apartment complex on the 1900 block
of Hubert Avenue in Memphis to locate and apprehend Brannum. As deputies
were announcing their presence at a door to the rear of the apartment,
Brannum went to exit out another door, and he was met by deputies who
had the place surrounded.
Officers from the Bells Police Department took
custody of Brannum to transport him back to Crockett County once the
scene was secured by the TRVFTF and Memphis Police Officers who arrived
after the arrest.
The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive
Task Force is a multi-agency task force within Western Tennessee. The
Western Tennessee Division of the TRVFTF has offices in Memphis and
Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S.
Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis Police Officers,
Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, and the
Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission
of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
