Alachua Teacher Arrested for Sending Students Sexually Implicit Images to Student Through Instagram

On October 29, 2020, Bill B. French (DOB: 3/20/1986) was arrested for transmitting harmful information to a minor child and using a two-way communication device to commit a felony. On October 26, 2020, the school resource deputy at Oak View Middle School was notified by a parent that a teacher was messaging their child on Instagram. The parent alleged that Bill French shared sexually explicit images of himself with their child, a former student of French.  Detectives from the Special Victims Unit investigated the allegation to include conducting interviews and collecting the applicable evidence. French is currently being held at the Alachua County Jail awaiting first appearance where his bond will be established.
“We have worked closely with the Alachua County School Board to ensure that all leads were investigated. There is no evidence to support that there are any other victims and this appears to be an isolated incident,” the Alachua Sheriff’s Department said today.
