NEWARK, N.J. — U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey Alina Habba announced the formation of a new federal task force on Tuesday aimed at protecting election integrity and enforcing federal election laws across the state.
Habba, who was appointed by President Donald J. Trump has promised to restore law and order in the state, which is currently being pushed to the far-left under New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and New Jersey Attorney General Matt Platkin.
One of those law and order policies includes removing illegal voters from the state’s bloated election registries.
The Election Integrity Task Force will operate in coordination with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Homeland Security, and other federal agencies. Its mission includes identifying ineligible voters on state rolls, investigating and prosecuting election-related crimes, and ensuring compliance with federal voter registration and maintenance laws.
The task force follows President Joe Biden’s March 25 executive order concerning the protection and regulation of elections. According to the directive, the group will prioritize prosecuting offenses such as voter registration fraud, non-citizen voting, multiple voting in the same election, and foreign financial interference.
“We and our federal partners are committed to ensuring the integrity of elections here in the District of New Jersey,” said U.S. Attorney Habba. “The Election Integrity Task Force will take all appropriate steps to achieve that integrity and will vigorously pursue anyone who violates or attempts to violate federal laws designed to safeguard elections.”
Officials said one of the task force’s top goals is to improve information-sharing between federal, state, and local election offices to facilitate more accurate voter list management under the National Voter Registration Act and the Help America Vote Act.
Public reporting encouraged as federal enforcement expands
The U.S. Attorney’s Office has launched a dedicated election crime hotline — (888) 636-6596 — and is accepting tips via the FBI’s online portal to collect public reports of fraud and other potential violations. These resources are intended to assist citizens in reporting suspected irregularities during both voter registration and elections.
The announcement came alongside other law enforcement initiatives unveiled this week, including the launch of the Fentanyl Precursor Interception Strike Force. These coordinated efforts mark a broadened scope of enforcement actions under Habba’s office.
The task force’s establishment follows increasing scrutiny of voter systems and growing political attention to election security nationwide. No specific instances of voter fraud were cited in Tuesday’s announcement.
