Allegheny County police investigate fatal stabbing in Moon Township

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Allegheny County Police are seeking the public’s assistance following a fatal stabbing that occurred Monday afternoon along the Montour Trail in Moon Township.

At approximately 2:52 p.m., county 9-1-1 received a report of an injured male near the 1900 block of Hassam Road. First responders found a 44-year-old man suffering from a stab wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Moon Township Police requested the assistance of the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit, which has launched an investigation. Detectives found a bicycle and a bag near the scene, and they are asking for help in identifying the owner of the items.

Anyone who may have seen the bicycle on the trail or has information about the incident is encouraged to contact the County Police Tip Line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Anonymous tips are welcome as the investigation continues.
