The Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit responded to a request for assistance in Sharpsburg following a stabbing incident.

At approximately 2:00 pm today, County 9-1-1 received a report of a stabbing at a residence in the 1600 block of Middle Street. First responders discovered a 71-year-old female victim who had been stabbed multiple times. The victim was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition.

Subsequently, a 69-year-old male suspect was apprehended by responding officers without resistance. Homicide detectives have initiated an investigation into the incident.
