ANNAPOLIS, MD — Early this morning, Annapolis police made an arrest following a discovery during a foot patrol in the 700 block of Newtowne Dr. At approximately 1:10 AM, officers noticed a blue van with a Maryland registration. The van was running and occupied by Arshad Abdullah.

Officers observed Abdullah in the driver’s seat with a large Tupperware container of suspected marijuana on his lap. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a gray backpack containing plastic sandwich bags, a black digital scale, a document with Abdullah’s name and address, and a baggie of suspected crack cocaine.

The substances were confirmed via field testing, with the marijuana weighing about 443 grams and the crack cocaine approximately 2.1 grams. Abdullah was charged with possession with intent to distribute and has been detained at the local detention center.
