NEW YORK – A man who spraypainted an anti-Asian statement on a Mott Avenue liquor store in Far Rockaway is being sought by police.
Detectives with the hate crimes office said the incident occurred on Wednesday, April 19, at around 10:43 p.m.
The suspect was captured on surveillance footage exiting the A train at the Far Rockaway and Mott Avenue station before walking to a nearby liquor and wine store located at 21-35 Mott Avenue.
Once at the store, the unknown individual spray-painted an anti-Asian statement on the front gate before boarding a bus and leaving the location.
The NYPD did not disclose the exact nature of the statement.

The individual being sought is described as a male with a medium complexion, medium build, and hair on his chin. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black baseball hat, a white hooded sweatshirt with black designs, white sweatpants, and white sneakers. He was also carrying a black backpack.
