Armed robbery at linthicum dash in ends with accidental gunshot, suspect sought

LINTHICUM, Md. – Detectives with the Anne Arundel County Police Department are investigating an armed robbery at a Dash In convenience store in Linthicum that included the accidental discharge of a firearm.

Officers responded at approximately 3 a.m. Friday to the Dash In at 724 Nursery Road after receiving a report of a commercial robbery. Investigators said a man entered the store, requested cigarettes, and then brandished a revolver while demanding cash.

Gun fired while suspect struck cash register

According to police, the store clerk was unable to open the cash register drawer. Investigators said the suspect then struck the register with the revolver, causing a round to discharge.

The suspect fled the business on foot with stolen merchandise before officers arrived. Police searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate him. No injuries were reported.

Authorities described the suspect as a Hispanic man between 40 and 50 years old who was wearing a blue flat-brimmed hat, a black shirt, a long white sleeve on his right arm, and long black shorts.

Driver arrested on weapons charge in Laurel

In a separate incident early Friday, an officer conducted a traffic stop at approximately 1:10 a.m. in the 3400 block of Laurel Fort Meade Road in Laurel.

During the stop, police said the officer found a loaded black Polymer 80 handgun inside a satchel beneath the driver’s seat of a 2023 Chevrolet Malibu. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Xavier Alexander Graves of Silver Spring, was arrested and charged.
