Armed robbery on a DC streetcar ends quickly with the arrest of a 16-year-old

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A 16-year-old male was arrested Sunday after an armed robbery aboard a streetcar in Northeast Washington left victims shaken but unharmed.

The incident occurred on December 15 at approximately 12:35 p.m. in the Unit block of H Street, Northeast. The victims told responding First District officers that they had just boarded a streetcar when the suspect, armed with a handgun, approached them. The suspect allegedly threatened the victims, demanded their property, and fled the scene after obtaining it.

Shortly after the robbery, officers located the juvenile suspect, who is from Southeast, D.C. He was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery.

The case remains under investigation as authorities work to ensure the safety of public transportation passengers in the District.
