Bakery employee charged after hidden camera found in Alexandria restroom

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – A 20-year-old employee at a popular Old Town bakery is facing criminal charges after police say he secretly recorded multiple people, including children, in an employee restroom.

Police identified the suspect as Joshua Hombrebueno, an employee of Gustave Boulangerie on King Street.

Authorities said Hombrebueno surrendered to police through his attorney and was taken into custody without incident earlier today.

Key Points

  • Police charged bakery employee Joshua Hombrebueno, 20, in a hidden camera investigation.
  • A phone was found concealed in the restroom vanity, recording adults and children.
  • Hombrebueno turned himself in and was charged by Alexandria Police.

Hidden device discovered by mother and child

The case began on September 20 when a woman and her child found a hidden phone inside the vanity of the employee restroom at Gustave Boulangerie. Detectives later recovered video evidence showing multiple victims recorded without their knowledge or consent.

Investigation reveals multiple victims

Police said the footage included recordings of both adults and minors, leading to a wider investigation into the extent of the privacy violations. Detectives removed the device and secured digital evidence that is now being reviewed by forensic specialists.

Suspect turns himself in

Hombrebueno turned himself in to Alexandria Police earlier Thursday after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Officials said the warrant was served without incident and that he is cooperating through counsel.

Ongoing investigation with prosecutors

The investigation is continuing in coordination with the Alexandria Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. Detectives are asking anyone with information related to the case or potential victims to contact the department’s non-emergency line at 703-746-4444.
