ATM robber caught after back-to-back Glen Burnie holdup attempts
Glen Burnie, MD – A 28-year-old Baltimore man was arrested Saturday after allegedly robbing a woman at gunpoint and attempting a second robbery minutes later in Glen Burnie, police said.
Rasheed Marquis Jackson was taken into custody after Northern District officers responded to a robbery around 9:50 a.m. in the 7200 block of Ritchie Highway. A 27-year-old woman had just withdrawn cash from an ATM at the Bank of America when Jackson allegedly approached her, showed a handgun, and demanded her money.
The victim tried to flee but was caught by the suspect, who took her cash and cell phone before running off. While officers were investigating that incident, they were alerted to another attempted robbery nearby in the 7400 block of Ritchie Highway. A man matching the earlier suspect’s description had approached a vehicle in a drive-through ATM lane and tried to open the driver’s door.
That victim managed to drive away safely.
Responding officers located Jackson shortly afterward. He was found in possession of a replica firearm, along with the stolen money and phone from the first victim. He was arrested and charged with robbery, attempted robbery, and related offenses.
