Baltimore Police Arrest Suspect in Homicide Case

Baltimore, MD – The Baltimore Police Department announced the arrest of Uriah Cunningham, 31, in connection with the fatal shooting of Melvin Rogers, 43. The arrest was made by Central District officers on Saturday.

Investigators suspect Cunningham of shooting Rogers on September 29 on the 1800 block of Wilhelm Street. An alert from the Shot Spotter technology initially directed officers to the scene around 11:17 p.m. on the night of the crime.

Upon arrival, officers found Rogers suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was promptly transported by medics to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Cunningham has been charged with first-degree murder and additional charges. He is currently being held at the Central Booking Intake Facility. The investigation is ongoing and police are urging anyone with information to contact the homicide detectives at 410-396-2100.
