Police say a fight inside a business erupted into gunfire
BALTIMORE, MD – A fight inside a Southwest Baltimore business erupted into a shooting Wednesday that left a 41-year-old man critically wounded and a 16-year-old boy injured by gunfire before the teen was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, police said.
Baltimore Police said the shooting occurred near North Hilton and North Kossuth streets in the 200 block of North Hilton Street.
Southwest District officers were called to the area at approximately 10:47 a.m. Wednesday for a reported shooting.
Officers found the 41-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his body. Police rendered aid before the man was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
A 16-year-old Baltimore boy was also found nearby with a gunshot wound to his arm and taken to a hospital.
According to police, the two had been involved in a physical altercation inside a business when the shooting occurred. Police said the 16-year-old injured himself during the incident and critically wounded the 41-year-old.
The teen left the scene following the shooting but was quickly located, police said.
Officers canvassing the surrounding area also recovered a weapon. Police did not provide additional details about the firearm or disclose what led to the altercation.
After being released from the hospital, the 16-year-old was taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility and charged with attempted first-degree murder.
Police did not release the teen’s identity.
