Baltimore woman ignores lucky number rule and hits $50K

Lucky ticket 17 delivers $50K shock for Baltimore scratch off player

Baltimore, MD — A Baltimore woman nearly walked away from a lottery machine but instead walked out with a $50,000 top prize after taking a chance on one last ticket.

The longtime lottery player claimed her latest win April 14 after purchasing Break the Bank scratch-off tickets at the Exxon station located at 6701 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie.

According to Maryland Lottery officials, the woman initially bought four $5 tickets but hesitated after noticing the sequence numbers did not match her usual preference. She typically favors tickets with numbers close to 12 but decided to purchase one more — ticket number 17.

That final ticket revealed the $50,000 top prize after she matched the number 21 on the card.

The winner scratched the ticket inside the store, confirmed the prize, and quietly left without drawing attention. She said she only plans to share the news with her brother.

This marks her fourth significant lottery win in recent years, following previous prizes of $2,500 and $5,000 from Pick 4 games and $10,000 from a 50X the Cash scratch-off.

The Baltimore resident, who has worked in the medical field for 23 years, said she plans to use the money to pay bills, help family members, and save.

The Exxon retailer that sold the winning ticket will receive a $500 bonus.

Lottery officials said one $50,000 top prize remains unclaimed in the Break the Bank game, which launched in August.
