Wicomico County detectives ask for help identifying person linked to identity theft investigation
SALISBURY, MD — A person captured on security cameras at a Salisbury bank is being sought for questioning after investigators say a stolen identification card was used in an attempt to fraudulently withdraw money from a victim’s account.
The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office said detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying the individual seen in surveillance images at Hebron Savings Bank on Mt. Hermon Road.
According to investigators, the individual is the primary suspect in an ongoing investigation involving malicious destruction of property, theft, fraud, identity theft and other related offenses.
Detectives said the person allegedly used a stolen identification card in an attempt to withdraw funds from a bank account. The identification card had been reported stolen from a parked vehicle less than 48 hours before the attempted transaction.
During the investigation, detectives said they determined the individual was involved in identity theft and was in possession of stolen property.
The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that the individual has not been charged with any crimes related to this investigation and is not currently wanted. Detectives are seeking to identify and speak with the person as the investigation continues.
