Fight in bar turns bloody as man accused of stabbing victim multiple times in Dover
Dover, DE – A late-night dispute inside a Dover bar escalated into a violent confrontation that left one man critically injured and another facing multiple felony charges after a stabbing outside the establishment.
Charles Murray, 44, of Felton, was arrested following the incident at Touchdown Lounge on South DuPont Highway, according to Delaware State Police.
Troopers responded Sunday around 11:20 p.m. after receiving a report of a stabbing. Investigators said the situation began inside the bar when Murray accused the victim and a bartender of stealing his debit card.
Authorities allege Murray punched the victim during the confrontation before the situation moved outside.
According to police, the victim later approached a vehicle where a friend was seated in the driver’s seat and explained what had happened. As the two spoke, Murray approached the vehicle, leading to a physical altercation between Murray and the victim’s friend.
When the victim moved toward the fight, investigators said Murray stabbed him multiple times.
Both men were transported to a hospital, where the victim was treated for critical injuries. Murray was not injured.
Detectives later took Murray into custody without incident. He was charged with first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
He was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $102,000 cash bond.
