Police say the man changed his look inside the store before making his escape
GREENBELT, MD — A man accused of stuffing a laundry basket with up to $700 in merchandise pulled an apparent disguise switch inside a Greenbelt Marshalls before walking out without paying and fleeing toward a parking garage, police said.
The theft happened at approximately 2:17 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Marshalls located at 6000 Greenbelt Road.
Greenbelt Police said the man concealed approximately $600 to $700 worth of merchandise inside a laundry basket.
The suspect was initially observed wearing a light-colored distressed vest over a dark-colored shirt, dark-framed glasses and gray pants.
Police said he then changed his appearance while still inside the store.
The man was later seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with the hood up and dark sunglasses, according to police.
He allegedly left Marshalls without paying for the merchandise and fled on foot toward the parking garage.
Marshalls Organized Retail Crime personnel told police the man had been seen at the location on previous occasions and is believed to be involved in prior theft-related incidents.
Greenbelt Police are seeking the public’s help identifying the suspect. Anyone with information can contact Officer Graham at 301-474-2700 and reference Case 26-2006.
