Bellport Man Faces Charges Following Serious ATV Crash

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney on Friday announced the indictment of Tayquan Mayo-Dunmore, 30, of Bellport. Mayo-Dunmore is accused of driving his all-terrain vehicle (ATV) while intoxicated and causing serious physical injuries to his passenger.

According to the investigation, on June 10, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Mayo-Dunmore was allegedly intoxicated and driving a Kawasaki ATV on Bellport Avenue in Bellport. The ATV flipped over during a crash, causing the passenger to be thrown off and suffer severe head trauma. She was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital and placed in an induced coma. Mayo-Dunmore’s New York State driver’s license was also found to be suspended at the time he was operating the ATV.

On Friday, Mayo-Dunmore was arraigned on the indictment before Supreme Court Justice, the Honorable Richard Ambro, for multiple counts of vehicular assault, aggravated driving while intoxicated, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Justice Ambro ordered Mayo-Dunmore to be held on $25,000 cash, $50,000 bond, or $250,000 partially secured bond. Mayo-Dunmore is due back in court on August 9.
