WASHINGTON — After opening the border to possibly tens of millions of illegal migrants since taking office in 2020, the administration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris has been secretly deporting foreign nationals ahead of the 2024 election.
The deportations are coming as Vice President Kamala Harris is working on her poor image of being weak on immigration. The deportations are allegedly happening in cities being overwhelmed by the Biden-Harris immigration policy and includes families, an ICE report showed.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has removed or returned more than 160,000 individuals to over 145 countries since implementing new immigration policies on June 5, according to agency data released this week. The removals followed the Presidential Proclamation and Interim Final Rule aimed at accelerating processing for noncitizens without a legal basis to remain in the U.S.
This is just a fraction of the amount of illegal migrants, including alleged murder suspects, rapists, child sexual predators, and violent criminal gang members allowed into the country by the administration’s open border policies.
The administration is trying to avoid highlighting these deportations in fear that it could hurt the Vice President’s election, according to federal government officials who wished to remain anonymous.
In the period between June and September, DHS reported conducting over 495 international repatriation flights to destinations including Brazil, Central America, China, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Mexico, and Peru. The department has significantly increased the percentage of expedited removals for individuals encountered at the southwest border, tripling this figure during the same timeframe.
Overall, preliminary figures for fiscal year 2024 indicate that DHS completed more than 700,000 removals and returns, marking the highest total in over a decade.
The agency noted that this year included more removals to countries other than Mexico than ever before. Additionally, DHS stated it has reduced the average time for removal processing by more than half from historical levels for those unable to establish a legal basis for remaining in the United States.
The department underscored that all noncitizens are screened for valid protection claims in line with U.S. laws and international obligations, ensuring orderly and humane processing, transfers, and removals. Those placed into removal proceedings have the opportunity to present their cases before immigration judges, who operate under the Justice Department’s Executive Office for Immigration Review.
“DHS remains committed to upholding both the law and the rights of noncitizens seeking protection,” the agency noted, emphasizing that it would not disclose information about future or pending transportation operations due to operational security considerations.
