Biden wants federal gun ban, says semi-automatic weapons are “sick” and “no social value”

U.S. President Joe Biden is taking aim at America’s gun rights this week after telling reporters that Americans should not own semi-automatic weapons.

“The idea that we still allow semi-automatic weapons to be purchased is sick,” the President said. “Just sick, it has no social redeeming value. Zero. None. Not a single solitary rationale for it except for profit for the gun manufacturers.”

Now, Biden is calling for a semi-automatic weapons ban in America. Such a ban would turn millions of legal gun owners into criminals. It would disarm the American population during a sweeping crime wave where guns are plentiful for criminals and laws to keep repeat offenders behind bars are weak.

The NRA has been opposed to Washington, D.C.’s assault on the second amendment. In July,  Executive Director Jason Ouimet spoke out against a move in Congress to ban semi-automatic wesopns.

“Barely a month after the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in NYSRPA v. Bruen, gun control advocates in Congress are spearheading an assault upon the freedoms and civil liberties of law-abiding Americans. The promises made in HR 1808 are nothing short of a lie based on willful ignorance of the disastrous 1994 Clinton Gun Ban which failed to produce any significant drop in crime. With more than 24 million potentially-banned firearms in common use, these draconian restrictions fall in blatant opposition to the Supreme Court’s rulings in BruenCaetano v. Massachusetts, and DC v. Heller. Their refusal to recognize this reality places everyone at risk. Any legitimate attempt to address our nation’s surge in violent crime cannot commence until anti-gun legislators step away from the radicals who defund our police departments, support prosecutors who refuse to prosecute dangerous criminals, and promote no cash bail policies that have turned once proud communities into a playground of lawlessness and fear.”

Now, Biden is calling for legislators to act to implement a federal semi-automatic firearms ban.
