Blue States like New Jersey, New York letting hysteria lead them through the omicron surge, DeSantis

January 5, 2022

TRENTON, NJ – As states like New York, New Jersey, California, and other predominantly blue, Democrat-led states are on a road to another pandemic lockdown, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says those states are letting hysteria and fear drive public policy.

“If you look at what they’re doing in other states, they’re letting hysteria drive them to do really damaging things,” DeSantis said. “We thought that people had learned. They’re closing schools. They’re doing things that should not be done and that is not the way we deal with this. We are 100% committed to making sure people can live their lives, kids can get an education, and people’s businesses are allowed to operate…and people have jobs.”

When it comes to his response to the pandemic, DeSantis said giving in to fear is “nonnegotiable”.

DeSantis said the clinical profile of omicron is not justifiable to let fear overwhelm people in America.

“We’re seeing dramatically less clinical results compared to what we’ve seen,” DeSantis said. “You cant let it go down that road, it’s just going to continue to hurt people and isn’t going to do anything to slow down or stop an incredibly dangerous and airborne virus.”
