Body recovered from Hudson River in Hoboken prompts park closures

HOBOKEN, NJ — Authorities recovered the body of a man from the Hudson River on Sunday, leading to the temporary closure of two parks along the Hoboken waterfront, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Key Points

  • A man’s body was recovered from the Hudson River in Hoboken on Sunday afternoon.
  • Pier C and parts of Sinatra Park were closed during the investigation.
  • Officials confirmed no threat to the public and said the investigation is ongoing.

Law enforcement officials responded to the scene near Pier C Park after being alerted to a deceased individual in the water. The discovery prompted closures at Pier C and parts of Sinatra Park while police and investigators examined the area.

“There is NO danger to the public, but please avoid the area,” Hoboken police stated in a public advisory, noting that multiple agencies, including the Fire Department and emergency services, were present.

The prosecutor’s office confirmed their involvement in the investigation and said more details would be provided as they become available.

Pier C, located along the central waterfront, features recreational paths and playgrounds. Sinatra Park lies just north, near the Stevens Institute of Technology.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the man or the circumstances surrounding his death.
