Bojangles Brings Southern Charm to Piscataway with Grand Opening of First New Jersey Location

Piscataway, NJ – The wait is almost over for New Jersey fried chicken enthusiasts as Bojangles, the iconic Southern fast-food chain, will open its doors next month.

The new restaurant brings the brand’s signature Cajun-spiced chicken, flaky buttermilk biscuits, and Legendary Iced Tea to Middlesex County, delighting locals eager for a taste of the South.

The 2,800-square-foot eatery, complete with a convenient drive-thru, replaces a former Exxon station at the bustling Stelton Road site, a location praised for its proximity to major retailers like ShopRite, Target, and Walmart. The restaurant’s arrival is part of a broader expansion plan by franchisees Dipak Patel and Agam Vaidya, who aim to open 10 Bojangles locations across Middlesex, Essex, Union, Bergen, and Hudson counties.

Founded in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1977, Bojangles has built a loyal following with its made-from-scratch menu and vibrant, welcoming atmosphere. The Piscataway location stays true to that tradition, offering fan favorites like the Bo’s Chicken Sandwich, crispy tenders, and hearty sides such as dirty rice and macaroni and cheese. The “Biscuit Theater”—a feature allowing guests to watch biscuits being crafted fresh—has already become a hit among first-time visitors.

The anticipated opening comes after months of anticipation, with the project first announced in late 2023 when PWY Chicken Rest NJ, LLC, filed plans with the township’s Zoning Board of Adjustment. The site underwent significant upgrades, including new parking areas, sidewalks, and landscaping, transforming the once-vacant lot into a modern dining destination. The Goldstein Group, a Paramus-based real estate brokerage, facilitated the deal, touting the location’s strategic appeal in a growing commercial corridor.

The Piscataway Bojangles will be open daily, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with online ordering available through the Bojangles app. As the chain settles in, plans for additional New Jersey locations—including outposts in Neptune, Marlboro, and Vineland—are already in motion, promising more opportunities for residents to savor a taste of Southern hospitality.
