Boston Police Arrest Suspect and Recover Firearm Following Shots Fired in Roxbury

June 20, 2024

Early in the morning on June 20th, 2024, at approximately 1:30 AM, Boston Police District B-2 (Roxbury) officers responded to a call for shots fired at the rear of 58 Circuit Street in Roxbury. The call was initiated by a 911 report of two gunshots.

Upon arrival, officers located a large group of individuals with multiple vehicles, who were drinking alcohol and playing loud music in the middle of Regent Street, directly behind Circuit Street. As officers addressed several city ordinance violations, they noticed an individual, later identified as 21-year-old Takari Hokett of Roxbury, attempting to distance himself from the scene while suspiciously clutching the front pocket of his hooded sweatshirt.

Following a brief investigation, officers recovered a firearm from Hokett’s pocket. The weapon, a black Keltec P-40, was found with six .40 caliber rounds in the magazine but no round in the chamber. B-2 detectives took over the scene, confirming the details of the firearm recovery.

Hokett was arrested at the scene and faces multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, having an obliterated serial number, public intoxication, and drinking in public. He is expected to be arraigned at Roxbury District Court.
