Braddock fugitive arrested after months on the run for firearms violations

November 14, 2024

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday that Tremond Alston, a 26-year-old man from Braddock with a history of firearms violations, has been apprehended after evading authorities for nearly five months. Alston had been wanted on multiple warrants, including a probation violation connected to a 2021 conviction for firearms offenses, terroristic threats, and driving under the influence.

Alston, who has been a fugitive since June, was also facing two active warrants for additional firearms-related charges in Pittsburgh and Duquesne. Detectives recently received information indicating that Alston was staying at a residence on Mapleview Drive in Braddock, where the mother of his child resides.

According to the sheriff’s office, when detectives arrived at the residence early Wednesday, Alston attempted to evade capture by attempting to leave through a second-floor window. Officers were able to secure the area, and Alston was taken into custody without further incident. He was subsequently transported to the Allegheny County Jail, where he awaits further legal proceedings.

Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus confirmed the arrest, noting that Alston’s capture is part of the ongoing efforts by the sheriff’s office to apprehend individuals with outstanding warrants, especially those with histories of violent or weapons-related offenses.

Alston’s arrest marks the latest in a series of actions by law enforcement to address gun-related offenses in Allegheny County, a region that has seen increasing efforts to enforce probation terms and pursue suspects involved in firearms violations.
