SOUTH RIVER, NJ — Police are searching for three suspects who attempted to break into two homes early Friday morning in central South River.

According to the South River Police Department, the first attempted burglary occurred at approximately 3:51 a.m. on March 28. A second incident was reported shortly afterward at another nearby residence. Authorities believe the same three individuals were involved in both crimes.

Key Points

  • Two attempted home burglaries reported early Friday morning in South River.
  • Police believe the same three suspects targeted both residences.
  • Suspects and vehicle captured on home security cameras.

Responding patrol officers canvassed both areas but were unable to locate the suspects or a suspect vehicle. Surveillance footage from both homes captured images of the suspects and the vehicle allegedly used in the attempts.

Police did not disclose the exact locations of the incidents, citing respect for the privacy of the residents who shared footage. “We believe it is critical to provide our community with as much information as possible,” officials stated.

The department released burglary prevention tips and urged residents to secure their homes and vehicles, stay alert, and report suspicious activity. Additional safety advice included installing security systems, locking all entry points, and avoiding social media posts about travel plans or valuables.

Residents with any information are asked to contact South River Police Dispatch at 732-238-1000 or reach Lieutenant Edwin Yorek at extension 111.
