Brick Township Man Faces Bias Intimidation, Weapons Charges After Tire Slashing Incident

October 27, 2023

BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ — Ryan McDonald, 33, has been charged with multiple offenses, including three counts of Bias Intimidation and various weapons charges, following incidents that took place in Brick Township on October 24.

Officers were called to the 7-11 convenience store on Mantoloking Road at approximately 2:00 p.m. following a report of criminal mischief. According to the investigation, a male suspect became agitated with customers in the store.

The suspect left the store, retrieved a knife from his vehicle, and stabbed a tire of one customer’s vehicle. The man then approached another customer’s vehicle, using the knife to puncture two of its tires while directing racial slurs at its occupants — an older woman and a child. The suspect then fled the scene.

Subsequent investigation identified McDonald as the individual responsible for these acts. He was located and arrested without incident by Brick Township Police Officers shortly thereafter. McDonald was taken to the Ocean County Jail, where he is currently being held pending a detention hearing.
