Brick Township officer honored with Level-2 traffic safety certification

BRICK TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Patrolman Scott Mesmer of the Brick Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit has been recognized with a Level-2 Traffic Safety Specialist (TSS) Certification, the department announced Tuesday.

Mesmer received the honor during a New Jersey Police Traffic Officers Association meeting held at Kean University, where his contributions to highway safety enforcement were celebrated.

The Traffic Safety Specialist program, first established in Maryland and introduced in New Jersey in 2016, highlights officers who demonstrate exceptional training and expertise in traffic safety. More than 100 officers in the state have been recognized since the program’s inception through the Ocean County Police Traffic Officers Association.

“Patrolman Mesmer’s commitment to enhancing traffic safety within Brick Township and Ocean County is commendable, and we are proud of his dedication to this vital initiative,” the department said in a statement.

Mesmer’s achievement reflects Brick Township’s ongoing efforts to prioritize road safety and reduce traffic-related incidents in the community.
