BRONX, N.Y. – Police have arrested a Bronx man accused of committing a lewd act near a subway station earlier this fall, bringing an end to a months-long investigation by the NYPD.

According to officials, 33-year-old Jayquan Williams of 3242 Barker Avenue was taken into custody on December 25 at 9:15 a.m. within the confines of the 44th Precinct. Williams has been charged with public lewdness in connection with an incident that occurred on October 13 at approximately 12:58 a.m. near the 205th Street subway station in the Bronx.

Investigators said a 45-year-old woman was exiting the station when she observed a man performing a lewd act. The suspect fled into the station immediately after the encounter. No injuries were reported.

The NYPD’s Transit District 11 and 52nd Precinct detectives worked jointly to identify and locate the suspect following a public appeal for information. Williams was arrested without incident and is awaiting arraignment.

Authorities said the case remains under investigation.
