Bronx Man Chased Down and Stabbed by Robber Who Wanted His Backpack

MANHATTAN, N.Y. — The New York City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a violent robbery that occurred early Tuesday morning in the Bronx. The incident took place at approximately 4:40 a.m. on July 16, near the intersection of Morris Avenue and East 169th Street, within the confines of the 44th Precinct.

According to the NYPD, a 43-year-old man was approached by an unidentified individual while walking in the area. The suspect demanded the victim’s book bag, prompting the victim to flee. The suspect, however, pursued the victim, catching up to him and stabbing him multiple times in the torso and hand before forcibly taking the book bag.

The suspect was last seen heading westbound on 169th Street on foot. The victim, who sustained severe lacerations, was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was treated and is currently in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion, approximately 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing around 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a waist-length jacket, tan shorts, blue sneakers, a white t-shirt, and carrying a black book bag.

Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect to contact the NYPD.
