Bronx man gunned down in early morning shooting outside apartment building

A 23-year-old man was shot and killed early Saturday morning in front of a Bronx apartment building, police said.

Shane Sanchez, 23, was found with a gunshot wound to the chest shortly before 2 a.m. outside 2765 Sampson Avenue, in the Soundview neighborhood. Officers responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at the location, which is within the jurisdiction of the NYPD’s 45th Precinct and Police Service Area 8.

Emergency medical crews rushed Sanchez to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made, and investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
