Bronx Mother Indicted on Murder Charges for Fatally Stabbing Her Two Sons

BRONX, NY — Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark has announced the indictment of a Bronx woman, Dimone Fleming, 23, on charges of murdering her two young sons at a family shelter. The tragic event occurred inside the family’s shelter apartment at 246 Echo Place.

Fleming faces charges of first-degree murder, four counts of second-degree murder, and two counts of first-degree manslaughter. She was arraigned before Bronx Supreme Court Justice Brenda Rivera and was remanded to custody, with a court return date set for August 7, 2024.

The horrifying incident took place on November 26, 2022. The two children, eleven-month-old Octavius Canada and three-year-old Daishawn Fleming, suffered multiple stab and slicing wounds to their necks, each sustaining four fatal injuries. They were subsequently found submerged in a bathtub covered by a dark sheet. At the time of the murders, Fleming was reportedly the sole caretaker of her children.

District Attorney Clark emphasized the devastating breach of trust, stating, “Children should be safe and feel protected by their mothers. Instead, these little boys were allegedly stabbed multiple times then submerged in a bathtub by their mother.”
