OSWEGATCHIE, N.Y. – A Brooklyn man was arrested Thursday after authorities discovered a significant quantity of cocaine in his vehicle during a traffic stop on State Highway 37, police said.
New York State Police, along with the U.S. Border Patrol and the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force, pulled over a black Honda Pilot at approximately 12:21 p.m. for a traffic violation. A Border Patrol K9, Orka, alerted officers to the presence of narcotics.
Police later confirmed the substance was cocaine. Authorities did not disclose the exact amount found.
Jason J. Jones, 41, of Brooklyn, was charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for allegedly having more than eight ounces of a narcotic, as well as third-degree criminal possession with intent to sell.
Jones remains in custody as the investigation continues.
