Brooklyn Man Indicted for Attempted Murder After Allegedly Striking NYPD Officer with Stolen Car

Queens, NY – Keyah Richardson has been indicted by a grand jury and arraigned on charges including attempted murder in the first degree, assault, and other crimes. The indictment follows allegations that Richardson rammed a stolen car into an NYPD officer investigating the theft and nearly struck a grandfather and his granddaughter in Corona.

Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz stated that Richardson stole a car and used it to strike Officer Bartholomew Tully. Richardson allegedly endangered the lives of two pedestrians, exited the vehicle, and led police on a manhunt before being captured on a rooftop. The grand jury indicted Richardson for attempted murder in both the first and second degrees, among other charges.

Richardson, 19, from Sutter Avenue in Brooklyn, faces a 19-count indictment. Charges include attempted murder in the first and second degrees, first-degree attempted assault, second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, possession of burglar’s tools, fourth-degree criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child, reckless driving, wrong-way driving,
