Brooklyn, NY – A Brooklyn man was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for the 2018 shooting of a 15-year-old boy at the Bushwick Houses. The shooting also wounded a 43-year-old man.

Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced the sentencing of Elijah Harris, 25, of Bedford-Stuyvesant. On Tuesday, Harris received his sentence from Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Donald Leo for charges of second-degree murder, second-degree assault, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Evidence presented in court indicated that on July 17, 2018, Harris rode a bicycle near 370 and 390 Bushwick Avenue. He then fired at least nine shots into a playground and courtyard, hitting Kyon Jackson, 15, and a 43-year-old man.

Jackson was pronounced dead at Woodhull Hospital after the shooting. Harris was arrested shortly thereafter, and the firearm was recovered by police.
