The New York Lottery identified New Far East Liquor as the retailer that sold the $100,000 ticket. The Rockaway Avenue ticket was one of the notable New York prizes produced by Saturday night’s Powerball drawing.
“One third-prize-winning Powerplay ticket was sold for the Aug 29 Powerball drawing,” the New York Lottery said in its announcement.
A standard Powerball third prize is $50,000. The Power Play multiplier doubled the value of this ticket’s prize to $100,000.
Power Play is an optional feature purchased with a Powerball ticket. According to the Lottery, it can multiply non-jackpot prizes by as much as 10 times, depending on the applicable multiplier and game rules.
How Powerball and Power Play Work
Powerball’s five white numbers are selected from a field of 1 through 69, while the red Powerball is drawn separately from numbers 1 through 26.
Drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.
