Man Accused of Beating 9-Year-Old Boy, Assaulting Mom Arrested After Brutal Attack

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo man has been arrested after allegedly beating a 9-year-old boy and assaulting the child’s mother inside a home in a disturbing attack earlier this week, police said.

Authorities said the incident unfolded Wednesday, March 25, when officers responded to a report of an injured child shortly after 5 p.m.

According to investigators, a witness reported that a known male suspect had dropped off the injured boy before leaving the scene.

The child suffered a black eye, a large lump on his head and multiple bruises across his body. He was rushed to Oishei Children’s Hospital for treatment.

Police later learned from the boy’s mother that she had also been attacked by the same suspect, who was known to her.

Officials allege that when the woman returned home from work, she found her son crying in a corner with visible injuries. As she attempted to leave the house with him, the suspect allegedly struck her, shoved her into a closet, kicked the child and then fled with the boy.

Officers later tracked down and arrested the suspect without incident in the 200 block of South Ogden Street.

Robert Testa, 49, of Buffalo, has been charged with second-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and second-degree harassment.

Police said some details of the case are being withheld due to the victim’s age.

The investigation remains ongoing.
