Buffalo man charged after ludington street shooting leads to gun seizure — handcuff

Police say investigators recovered four loaded firearms while investigating a shooting that left a man wounded.

BUFFALO, NY — A Buffalo man is facing assault and weapons charges after police said an investigation into a weekend shooting led detectives to recover four loaded firearms.

The Buffalo Police Department announced Tuesday that Angel Ramos Vargas, 41, of Buffalo, was arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on Ludington Street on Saturday, July 26.

According to police, shortly after 10 p.m., an adult man arrived at Erie County Medical Center in a private vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

Officers assigned to the C District and detectives with the Gun Violence Unit launched an investigation and located a crime scene on Ludington Street.

During the investigation, police said they recovered a loaded Glock 42, a loaded Smith & Wesson SD9VE, a loaded Taurus G2C and a Walther P99c AS40.

Vargas has been charged with one count of third-degree assault and three counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The charges are allegations, and Vargas is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
