Burglar caught on video during Northwest D.C. heist

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying a person of interest connected to a burglary that occurred earlier this month at a commercial establishment in Northwest D.C., authorities said Tuesday.

The break-in happened on Thursday, May 8, around 6:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of K Street NW. According to police, the suspect forcibly entered the business, stole merchandise, and fled before officers arrived.

Surveillance footage captured images of a person of interest. The Metropolitan Police Department has released the video online in hopes of generating leads. The footage can be viewed at this link.

Officials have not disclosed the type or value of the merchandise stolen, and no injuries were reported during the incident.

Reward offered as MPD looks to identify suspect

The case is being investigated by officers from MPD’s Second District. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person responsible.

The person of interest appears clearly in the released video, though police caution the public not to approach or attempt to detain anyone believed to be involved.
