Surveillance cameras captured the suspect after the Pennsylvania Avenue break-in

WASHINGTON, DC – A burglar forced through the locked rear door of a closed Pennsylvania Avenue business Thursday morning, grabbed property and fled before nearby surveillance cameras captured images now being used in the search for the suspect.

The break-in happened at approximately 9 a.m. Thursday in the 600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Southeast DC.

According to information released Friday, the suspect forcibly entered through a locked rear door while the commercial business was closed.

Once inside, the person took property from the business and fled the scene.

Officials did not disclose what was taken or provide an estimated value for the stolen property.

Nearby surveillance cameras recorded the suspect, and an image was released Friday in an effort to identify the person.

No description of the suspect beyond the surveillance imagery was provided in the announcement.

No injuries were reported in connection with the burglary.
