CHESAPEAKE BEACH, MD – The American Legion Posts in Calvert County celebrated law enforcement, correctional, and communications personnel for their exceptional service on the evening of Thursday, March 14. Held at the Stallings-Williams Post 206, the ceremony recognized individuals for their exemplary contributions beyond the call of duty. Patricia McCoy, Judge Advocate, commenced the event, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, an opening prayer, and presentations led by Commander Scott Deacon.

The honorees of the evening included Trooper First Class Kevin Bauer as Maryland State Trooper of the Year, Corporal Nick DeFelice as Calvert County Deputy of the Year, Correctional Deputy Nicholas Sunderland as Correctional Officer of the Year, and Public Safety Call Taker Ashley Lowery as 911 Communications Operator of the Year. Corporal DeFelice was notably celebrated for receiving multiple awards: ‘American Legion Law Officer of the Year’ for Calvert County, ‘Regional Law Officer of the Year’, and ‘The Department of Maryland Law Officer of the Year’.

Sheriff Ricky Cox and the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office expressed immense pride in their personnel, particularly Corporal DeFelice, for his significant achievements. The event also served to thank the American Legion members, officers, and post commanders for their continuous support towards veterans, their families, the community, and law enforcement in Calvert County.
