A knock at the door brought one suspect face-to-face with officers
CAMBRIDGE, MD – A knock on the door of an abandoned Cambridge residence brought officers face-to-face with a man inside the property before a woman emerged from deeper in the home, leading to two burglary arrests after police determined neither had permission to be there.
Cambridge Police responded to the 700 block of Meadow Avenue at approximately 10:54 a.m. Sept. 1 for a reported burglary at an abandoned residence.
When officers knocked on the door, a man identified as Tyrone Anthony Cropper, 41, of Cambridge, answered, according to police.
While officers were speaking with Cropper, a woman identified as Shakre Chamar Rich, 40, of Cambridge, came from inside the residence.
Police said neither had permission to be on the property.
Cropper and Rich were arrested and charged with fourth-degree burglary.
Both were taken to the Cambridge Police Department for processing before a court commissioner released them on personal recognizance.
Rich was then transported to Caroline County and turned over to the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office on an active warrant.
The charges are accusations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
